Relax at the Beach

Rocky Point is known for its gorgeous beaches with powdery golden sand and the warm waters of the Sea of Cortez. Playa Bonita is the closest beach to the center of Rocky Point, making it a convenient beach to spend your day. There are several shops on the beach that rent umbrellas, as well as excellent food and cold beer. The beach is family-friendly and is large so there is plenty of space to stretch out.

If you want to go snorkeling, Sandy Beach is just north of Rocky Point. This beach is popular among snorkelers and scuba divers because of the abundant ocean wildlife. There are several shops in Rocky Point where you can rent all the gear you need for snorkeling.

Take a Boat Trip

After a day on the beach, explore the ocean by boat. Del Mar Charters offers several boat trips, including a trip to Bird Island. The small island is located about an hour’s boat ride off the coast of Rocky Point. During the warmer summer months, you can snorkel with sea lions off the shore of the island and during the winter it is common to see dolphins and whales. The whole trip lasts about six hours and includes a lunch and drinks. There is also a restroom onboard the boat.

Shopping and Eating at Old Port

Old Port is the heart of Rocky Point Fun. The area stretches along the shore of the Sea of Cortez and is lined with restaurants and stores providing hours of entertainment. If you are going to spend the day at the Old Port, you will probably want some lunch. There are several restaurants along the street with delicious fresh seafood and cocktails. Some of the most popular seafood restaurants are Blue Marlin and The Point Restaurant.

After lunch, check out the areas many shops. The little stores sell all types of handmade goods and souvenirs. Make sure to head outside for the sunset. Old Port offers some of the best views of the sunset in Rocky Point.

The Old Port is also where the fishermen bring in their fresh catch of the day. You can see what sort of seafood they caught and even buy a fish to take home for dinner. The fishermen will weigh it out on the spot.

Rent a Kayak

Another part of your one week Rocky Point itinerary is going kayaking! The tranquil waters are perfect for kayaking and there are several stores in town where you can rent a kayak. Ride up and down the shoreline to see Rocky Point and the areas surrounding wildlife.

Explore the Sonoran Desert

Rocky Point is situated between the Sea of Cortez and the Sonoran Desert, which means there is some desert fun to be had as well. Rocky Point ATV Rentals rents out ATVs and has maps for the hundreds of trails in the desert. You can spend hours riding around in the sand dunes exploring the other side of Rocky Point.
