The Sea of Cortez, off the shore of Rocky Point, stays warm enough during this time of year to swim, but also cool enough to be a relief from the warm sun. Día de Los Muertos
The fall season is when locals gather for some unique events in the town! As October transitions to November, head to Rocky Point to experience the Day of the Dead festival, known in Spanish as Día de Los Muertos. This celebration is similar to the American holiday of Halloween, as they take place around the same time of year, but with some notable differences. People do dress up during this holiday, however they typically wear traditional Mexican garb and paint their faces as skulls, rather than wear a variety of costumes. The celebration revolves around honoring the memory of friends and family members who have passed, often through elaborately decorated shrines that highlight their favorite foods, drinks, and hobbies. Typically, locals and tourists alike gather in Cholla Bay Mall to celebrate this holiday.
Rocky Point Rally
Another popular annual event in Rocky Point is the annual Rocky Point Rally. Known as the “greatest motorcycle fiesta south of the border,” the Rocky Point Rally is four days of motorcycles, food, and fun! Even if you are not a motorcycle lover, this festival is full of fun activities such as a beach party, poker tournament, and toy drive to benefit charity. It is certainly a must see if you find yourself on a Puerto Penasco vacation during the fall season!
