The Rocky Point beach life is a magical one filled! It’s with long days spent frolicking in the waters of the Sea of Cortez, riding the banana boats, swimming, or maybe just sitting on the sandy shores with a cold beverage and a really good book. If you could stay in that spot forever, we’re sure that you would do it. You do need to eat, however, and because your kitchen in your FMI Rentals beach house is fully equipped, a trip to the local Mercado (market) is in order. Super Ley is a Safeway-owned chain found throughout Rocky Point and is pretty much the only store you will need. Although, it may be fun to visit regional markets and shop like the natives do. Remember to thoroughly wash any produce purchased from Mercado del Desierto, José López Portillo (or any Mercado you choose to visit).
Cenar Fuera (Dining Out)
The best part of vacations is the opportunity to try new foods, and when you are visiting Rocky Point, your selection of wonderful restaurants is nearly endless. Start your day right with a visit to Coffee Point at Blvd. Benito Juárez 319, Centro. The coffee and pastries found here will make your mouth water at first scent! Take your mid-morning break on the go; the Combo Taco stand, found at various spots throughout Rocky Point, offers the tastiest fish tacos in town! And dinners at Cocodrilos feature family style offerings, and on most nights, live music to accompany your meal!
Shopping in Rocky Point
Our second favorite vacation activity is shopping for souvenirs. Rocky Point offers a huge selection of shops and stores filled with all the things you never knew you were missing. Mexico’s “Rodeo Drive” (also known as the Cholla Mall) is a tourist’s dream. Lino’s Curios is a nearly open-air store filled with pottery, blankets, and the silver and turquoise jewelry Mexico is famous for.
Adventures Around Town
Adventurous types may want to try out the Rocky Point Zipline at Paseo de la Duna s/n, La Choya. Consisting of five different ziplines, the shortest span is 350 feet and the largest is 2000 feet. Set up to 150 feet up in the air, your tour of Rocky Point will bring new appreciation with this bird’s eye view! Marina Pinacate is perhaps the most convenient due to its close access to Highway 8, with a charming location near a miniature lagoon of sorts. If you prefer to be southeast of the city, then our Tessoro, Corona del Mar, and Corona del Sol resorts are all excellent choices located along the lovely Las Conchas beach. These are best known for their lovely dunes, and their short distance from the majorly developed areas of the city make them among the better options for stargazing in Rocky Point.
Northwest of the city are the impressive Princesa de Penasco and Casa Blanca resorts, situated along Sandy Beach. The former is ideal for those who want nothing between them and the sand and surf, while the latter boasts a great golf course while remaining a short walk from the shore. Sandy Beach is a lovely area, as many of the dunes remain relatively undisturbed once one gets farther from Rocky Point beach home rentals that populate the area.
