On April 11, the Puerto Peñasco Tiburones baseball team took to the field for Opening Night at the recently remodeled Francisco León García Stadium. In addition to inaugurating the new field the team heralded opening day of the Liga Norte de Mexico season. Crowds packed the brand-new stadium and it was a sold-out audience for the first of the three-game series.
