Rocky Point Beaches
The best parts about winter in Rocky Point are that the weather is wonderful, and the beaches are empty. It’s the off-season for tourists, and yet, the weather here stays warm and mild all year long. That means beach season never ends, and you’ll have more of it to yourself during the winter. Some of the best beaches to hit up during the winter months are the ones that are busiest during the summer, such as Playa Bonita Beach, Cholla Bay, and Playa Encanto. These beaches are gorgeous, offer soft sand to spread out on, and lovely blue waters to splash in and enjoy.
El Pinacate y Gran Desierto de Altar Biosphere Reserve
The alien landscape of El Pinacante is truly a sight to behold, and this is one sightseeing adventure you won’t want to pass up. It’s truly amazing that such a place can exist so close to the ocean! The sand dunes and craters in this park are reminiscent of the surface of Mars, or the moon. Except here, you can actually go exploring, and you’ll see desert wildlife too! Take a guided tour of the area or rent a couple of ATVs and go exploring all on your own. It’s up to you how you’ll define this particular adventure. Isla San Jorge
Just off the coast of Rocky Point is the small and isolated Isla San Jorge (also known as Bird Island). Visiting this little island is a great excuse to get out on the water. You’ll get up close and personal with the local sea life, and you’ll get views of the Sea of Cortez that you simply never get if you keep both feet on the mainland.
