As you look out your own window at home, are you seeing the wintry scene that hits your beautiful city every year around this time, or are you imagining a place with Gulf waters, sandy beaches, and palm trees swaying in the wind? If you answered the latter, it may be time to make your way south, in fact even further south than you have ever been before! A visit to Rocky Point, Mexico will take the gloom out of your winter vacation, offering temperatures that can reach as high as the mid-70s and rarely drop below the high 50s! And as you play outdoors in the sultry winter weather, you may find yourselves developing a hearty hunger that can only be sated by a hot winter meal in some local Rocky Point restaurants. This guide to your favorite meals will ensure every craving will be matched!
The Point Restaurant, Circunvalación y o Malecón Kino 200, El Puerto
Offering beach views and oversized plates filled with your favorite seafood dishes, the Point Restaurant has become a local tradition for travelers seeking a delicious meal! Put on your flip flops and head to the restaurant to eat off their seafood-centric menu (burgers are available for the less than adventurous palates) or grab it to go and enjoy it in the comfort of your FMI Rentals winter escape. We’ve yet to have a bad meal, and narrowing down our choices to just one is nearly impossible, but if you try their fajitas you definitely will not regret it!
La Curva Restaurant and Sport Bar, Blvd. Francisco Eusebio Kino s/n, Centro
When you are looking for a little fun to go along with your tacos, burritos, and nachos, La Curva Restaurant and Sport Bar should be your first stop! Offering dine-in service in a space designed to attract beach loving sports fans, they also offer curbside pick-up for those who still are not too sure about dining with the masses, ensuring that everyone who desires a hot winter meal will have their wish come true! A Rocky Point tradition for over 35 years, there are no wrong choices for your meal, just lots and lots of delicious options. If you are really hungry, the surf and turf combination offers thick and juicy steak, fresh shrimp, locally sourced chicken, served with rice AND a baked potato!
Margarita Mermaids, Circunvalación El Malecon
What is it about a quirky name that has you trying out a spot without knowing anything about it? That is what happened with us the first time we saw Margarita Mermaids, and we are happy to say the food is as delicious as its name is fun! Open for dine-in and curbside pickup, the menu of this special spot is filled with fresh seafood, delicious Mexican dishes, and as a special surprise, some of your favorite American dishes as well! Try their chicken and ribs dish and do not be surprised if you find yourself coming back to the same dish every time you visit.
Lucky’s Cantina, Circunvalación y o Malecón Kino 26
Another Rocky Point tradition can be found at Lucky’s Cantina, offering dine-in service and curbside pickup and a refreshing bar menu as well as your favorite Mexican meals! Breakfast at Lucky’s is guaranteed to cure any hangover, and their tacos are built to please every craving. Additionally, their seafood menu includes dishes that were more than likely swimming around in the Gulf waters that make Rocky Point so popular and the atmosphere is fun and welcoming, inviting you to come back again and again during your winter stay.
Latitude 31, Blvd. Benito Juárez García s/n, Centro
Every getaway deserves at least one high-quality meal, and even though Rocky Point is famous for its laidback vibe, Latitude 31 offers the exception to the rule! Featuring a Mexican food-centric menu and open for dining in or taking out, even the burgers served here taste as if they had come from an elegant restaurant. For those who happened to visit over the Thanksgiving holiday, a full American menu was featured, one that included homemade pumpkin pie! During the winter, however, their enchilada plates will feed your soul as they warm you from the inside out.
Pink Cadillac Restaurant, Calle Mariano Matamoros s/n, El Mirador
Our final selection of the day is another south of the border tradition, one that offers the ultimate party experience as well as hot winter meals that you will dream about long after you are gone! Open for dining in and taking out, the Pink Cadillac actually has a menu centered around your favorite American foods, but they also offer a few Mexican dishes that should definitely be tested! We love their breakfast, especially their fluffy pancakes, but their Mexican Grand Slam created with Cadillac Home Fries topped with chorizo, eggs, and beans makes our hearts happy!
