Stuff to Do on a Rainy Day in Rocky Point

One of the best times to visit Rocky Point is during the fall and winter months from September – December. The resort town isn’t as busy as it is during the summer, and in the spring, it becomes a popular destination for spring breakers. However, the clear weather during the fall and winter months can sometimes turn into intermittent rain. Don’t worry, though; there’s plenty of stuff do in on a rainy day in Rocky Point while avoiding inclement weather!

Manny’s Tequila Factory

Just because it is raining doesn’t mean you can’t have a fun day at Rocky Point. The owner of Manny’s Tequila Factory is very friendly and will teach you all about the history and process of making tequila. The store has several types of tequila and many different flavors of ice cream and pina colada. You can try free samples of the tequila and buy a bottle to take home if you like it. The store is closed on Tuesdays but is open every other day from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Old Port Shopping and Other Stuff to Do in Rocky Point

Rainy days are the perfect excuse to spend the day shopping, so grab your umbrella and head on over to the Old Port shopping area. The district is full of boutiques, arts and craft stores, jewelry stores, and shops. There are also many restaurants in the area if you get hungry; if you like coffee, be sure to stop by Old Port Coffee Roasters. This cozy cafe roasts their own beans and uses them to make delicious espresso and coffee drinks. You can also purchase bags of their beans to bring home.

Mar de Cortes Aquarium

Instead of relaxing on the beach, you can spend a rainy day indoors at a local aquarium. For years the Cet-Mar Aquarium was open on the beach by Los Conchas. The aquarium was home to injured sea life who were there for rehabilitation. The aquarium closed down, but many of the animals were moved to the new Mar de Cortes Aquarium. The new aquarium is located in the Matador neighborhood. It is home to sea turtles, seahorses, various fish, and an injured dolphin was brought here last summer. Admission is by donation. To get to the aquarium, head east on Freemont. Once you pass the Red Cross, take a right on Durango, and the aquarium is four blocks down.
