International Jazz Day: What Does It Have To Do With Rocky Point?

saxophone-918904_640Vacationers should note that April 20, 2016 is the 5th annual International Jazz Day. This isn’t just in America, it is world encompassing, as specified by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization. Visitors to Puerto Peñasco, Rocky Point, will find plenty of jazz to celebrate this cultural event. April 22nd and 23rd will bring jazz singer Nayo Jones and the Latin jazz fusion of Carlos Rivas.

Jazz originated in New Orleans within African American communities, but quickly spread to be integrated into many other cultures, including Latin jazz fusion and European free jazz. This is an eclectic genre providing a diverse palate of styles you can be sure to hear at Puerto Peñasco’s music festival. While vacationing in Mexico, you can taste not only the culture of Mexico, but of the jazz icons present.

This is an incredible opportunity to be part of a cross-cultural event. Not only does jazz involve many cultures, but participating in the International Jazz Day speaks to unification amongst diversity. Bring the whole family to provide learning opportunity for the kids, or just come yourself and soak in the good vibes. Get ready for a great time and get your jazz on.
