Top End of Summer Activities in Rocky Point

Rocky Point is sometimes referred to as “Arizona’s Beach” because of its location just 60 miles from the U.S. border with Mexico at Sonoyta. Just 20 years ago, Rocky Point was a small fishing village, and now it plays host to high rise hotels and condos, numerous restaurants, bars, and all sorts of activities. It still has a small-town feel, and it’s a wonderful place to enjoy some end of summer activities. Here are some of our favorites:

The Changing Colors in the Sky

In Rocky Point, you enjoy warm weather and ocean breezes. While you may not see the leaves decked out in brilliance, the sunsets can give you the same colors! You’ll enjoy those gorgeous golds, reds, and yellows as the sun sets on the horizon.

Check Out the Art Market

The Mermaids Art Market is a favorite end of summer event where you can catch the beauty, secrets, and magic of a mermaid! This unique arts and crafts fair brings local artisans from whom you can purchase gorgeous artwork that were made from recycled items, along with sea objects.

Go Out and Talk Like a Pirate

Experience pirate adventures right on the Sea of Cortez! Feel like a pirate—and even talk like one—when you visit the El Rey Del Mar Pirate Ship. You’ll even get to enjoy music and fireworks; it’s a wonderful activity for the entire family. For some adult time, dancing and cocktails on the cocktail cruise is a must.

Take in a Round or Two of Golf

There are three gorgeous golf courses in Puerto Peñasco: Laguna Del Mar, Islas Del Mar Links, and the Jack Nicklaus designed course at the Mayan Palace. This last course is rated among the top 100 golf courses! No matter which course you choose—and you may want to experience all three—you will never forget your golf experience in Rocky Point.

The Moon on the Horizon

Who doesn’t love the moon? Set out on an aerospace adventure by visiting the Pinacate Biosphere Visitor Center. This is a wonderful area for hiking and picnicking during this exquisite time of year, and space enthusiasts won’t want to miss the place where NASA astronauts trained for their moon walks!
