As the days begin to shorten and the evenings grow cooler, some of our favorite people in the world feel a little bit of sadness that the season of summer has passed. Especially our friends who live in colder climes, knowing that winter is just a blink away can be difficult when you still feel as if you have beach days that have yet to be experienced and your summer tan just needs a touch more added to become perfect, instead of fading away. For those who feel the passing of summer as a physical ache, we at FMI Rentals have the solution of summer, a visit to Rocky Point, Mexico and a stay in our seasonal sanctuaries! Summer lasts longer south of the border and although the days do grow somewhat cooler, the sun shines bright, the waters stay warm, and the carefree vibe of summer stays strong. This guide to why the fall is the perfect time for a Rocky Point vacation will help you keep summer alive just a little bit longer!
Have the Beach to Yourself This Fall in Rocky Point
Fall signifies back to school and back to reality, and most travelers are staying home preparing for a new year of chaos, clearing out the beaches of Rocky Point, lessening the lines in restaurants, and creating a vacation experience that is tranquil and serene. With temperatures in the 80s, you are going to want to spend as much time as possible at the beach, and because the crowds have dissipated for the season, it will almost feel as if the sand and sea belongs to you and your family! These moments spent building sandcastles that won’t be destroyed by uncaring crowds, frolicking in the salt waters without stepping on the feet of unnoticing children, and relaxing on beach chairs with unencumbered views of the Sea of Cortez will bring about some of the best moments of your adventures in Mexico. (And yes, the banana boats ARE as fun as they look, and you and your family may have one to yourselves!)
Mexican Independence Day, September 16
Americans are often confused into believing that Mexican Independence is what’s celebrated on Cinco de Mayo when it is actually the celebration of winning a battle over France. Mexican Independence Day is on September 16, and the two-day celebration may even outdo the ones Americans enjoy in July! The party is an authentic glimpse into the culture of the people who live here, beginning with a call to independence (Grito de Delores), mariachi music, traditional foods, fireworks, and the burning of a makeshift castle! Mexican treats will please your palate, and the colors, sights, and sounds of the country enjoying the most important day in their history will make you appreciate your visit even more. The town does pretty much shut its doors to allow everyone the opportunity to celebrate, and technically it isn’t fall yet, but we still think visiting Rocky Point over Mexican Independence Day will give you the most genuine fall experience!
The Rocky Point Farmers & Artisan Market, Sundays 8 AM until 1 PM Through November 24th
The fully equipped kitchens of your FMI Rentals fall abodes are lacking one thing—the food and beverages you need to feed your family during your stay—but a visit to the Rocky Point Farmers & Artisan Market will help remedy that very quickly! Founded in 2012, this is THE spot to get local produce, seafood, and other food items, as well as providing a huge assortment of arts and crafts that will make ideal gifts for family and friends. Remember, even though it feels like summer, it IS fall, and the holidays are coming up more quickly than you will be ready for, and the wares sold at the market are destined to be the best gifts you can give.
