Four Wheeling in Rocky Point
In prior years, visitors used to be able to ride ATVs and other vehicles in and around Rocky Point’s public city beaches, such as Sandy Beach and Las Conchas. Unfortunately, beach riding is now illegal, and police inspect the beaches closely for violators of this law.
However, because Rocky Point is immersed in the Sonoran Desert, it has plenty of nearby locations that are ideal for four wheeling and off-roading in general—perhaps even more ideal than the beach. There are many vacant areas behind Playa Encanto, Sandy Beach, Las Conchas, and Cholla Bay.
In fact, nestled next to Cholla Bay is Competition Hill, which is one of the most popular places to ride an ATV in Mexico. The sandy hill here is three hundred feet long and sloped at thirty degrees, making it perfect for experiencing extreme thrills in the soft sand.
