As summer days lead into fall nights, the magic of the hottest season can be extended by at least a month or two with a visit to our coastal village of Rocky Point, Mexico. Offering sunny days, easy vibes, and all the comforts of home in our FMI Rentals seasonal sanctuaries, visitors will be able to experience an authentic “taste” of Rocky Point when attending the following fall events. This guide to the top fall events in Rocky Point will help you get to know, and fall in love, with the region even better.

Celebration of Mexican Independence Day, September 16

Although the celebrations may not reach the heights of an American Independence Day celebration, we can promise that your vacation will be enhanced when you attend any of the local festivities taking place on this very important day. Check out the local hot spots for drink specials and live music and raise a toast to a country which still enjoys mariachi music, fireworks on the beach, and all the tequila you can drink!

The Final Phase (Phase III) of the Angler of the Year Tournament

The Angler of the Year Tournament is a event that accepts all who want to join. Taking place in three parts—October is when the last phase takes place—shoreline fishermen and women have the opportunity to win big prizes. JJ’s Cantina hosts a party for competitors, offering refreshing drinks, great food, and of course, live music that will encourage participants to dance the night away.

Mermaid Arts & Crafts Market in October

For over 10 years, the Mermaid Arts & Crafts Market has popped up on the horizon of Rocky Point, with the mermaids actually being artisans and artists, who create masterpieces for travelers to purchase. The best souvenirs can be the pieces of art that speak to your soul and if you’re looking for a gift for your dog walker/plant waterer/mail gatherer, a visit to this arts & crafts market can be the perfect place to start.

Dia de Los Muertos figurinesDia de Los Muertos, November 1 & 2

Perhaps one of the most popular fall events in Rocky Point in Mexico is Dia de los Muertos which takes place after the festivities of Halloween has ended. Honoring the time when the veil between the living and the undead is the thinnest, La Catrina is the patron saint of the holiday which is celebrated with costume contests, skull caricatures, parades, and so much more.

The joy of summer ends far too soon in most places, with temperatures dropping, school
starting, and the stress of the fall and winter holidays starting to weigh on our minds, but in
Rocky Point, Mexico, summer is a state of mind that stretches out late into the next season.

The waters of the Sea of Cortez stay warm, the sun shines brightly down on those who walk below,
and our FMI Rentals beachfront sanctuaries will help to continue the summer vibe throughout
your stay. This guide to a Labor Day in Rocky Point will help erase the sting of summer’s end as it opens your eyes to all the possibilities.

Work on Your Tan

It shouldn’t be a surprise that the first thing on our list of fun ways to extend summer through
Labor Day weekend is a day at the beach. Bury your toes in white sands as the sounds of the surf soothe
your soul, let your inner child out as you ride the banana boats crisscrossing the surf, and walk
along water’s edge every morning and every evening of your stay, savoring the stunning beauty
of our Rocky Point sunrises and sunsets.

Adventurers may want to rent jet skis from Xtreme Adventures Puerto Peñasco or parasail with Parasailing Rocky Point, and families with young children may want to spend many happy mornings building sandcastles, constructing a new one each morning after the tide washes away the previous day’s work. Inquisitive kiddos may be thrilled by the life they discover in the tide pools that appear after the tide goes out, as this is the perfect time to get up close and personal with the sea life, including octopi, fish, and shy crabs.

Step into History

Rocky Point is relatively young for a Mexican village, mostly because running water wasn’t
introduced to most of the town until about the mid-1970s. It has a history that extends far
earlier than that, however, a history that is intertwined with America’s history due to
prohibition. When alcohol was illegal in the United States, Al Capone began to visit quite
frequently, in part due to its tropical setting, but mostly because of the alcohol. He made La
Posada La Roca Hotel his south of the border home, and although you will be far more
comfortable in our FMI Rentals retreats, the hotel is still standing and can be a great place to
stop in, perhaps taking selfies in the spots where he once lived.

We do recommend a visit to Al Capone’s Seafood & Pizzeria, where the fresh and tasty food will add to the quality of your vacation experience. For another peek into the past, be sure to stop by the Malecon and pay your respects to El Camaronero, a statue of a fisherman; it’s a great selfie spot as well.

Finding Joy in the Simple Things

Not every adventure needs to be grand and extravagant. Sometimes the most impactful activities are the simple things enjoyed with families. It will still be plenty warm during your Labor Day in Rocky Point, making an ice cream cone from Thrifty a treat that will help beat the heat. Take it to go and enjoy a contest with your tiniest travelers, competing with each other on who can finish it before it melts into a sticky mess and watch their faces light up with joy.

Pour a glass of wine for yourself, and glasses of grape juice for the kids, and all of you can raise a toast to the beauty of a Mexican sunset, making the littles feel as if they are adults for a few moments in time. Or dedicate a few hours to searching for sea shells on Cholla Bay, watching your children delight in the shapes and colors, perhaps even finding a sand dollar that will serve as a beautiful souvenir from this fantastic family weekend. Aside from the small cost of a cone, all of these adventures cost nothing and will be remembered forever.

More Memories in Your Holiday Hideaway

Memories are what helps us stay strong in the hardest of times, and we like to think that the more memories you make the happier you will be, which is why we at FMI Rentals work so hard on providing holiday hideaways that will help you make happy memories.

Being awakened each morning by a pile of kids climbing in your bed, ready to start a day of fun under the sun, watching movies on state of the art televisions on rainy nights, or hanging out in a private pool, watching your youngest swim across the pool on his own for the very first time. Memories are made in our Rocky Point retreats and all you need to do is choose the one that fits your vacation needs the best. Reserve your favorite property today!

When this summer ends, and you know it will far too soon, are you going to look back on all the fun memories you made at one of our places to stay in Rocky Point, long days spent soaking in the serenity of the sea, frolicking in the surf, and building sandcastles at water’s edge? Or has this season been just another sea of days, filled with late nights, late mornings, and constant phone calls from the kiddos at home stating they are bored and their brother stared at them too long? We at FMI Rentals think it isn’t too late to remedy the whole beach vacation situation, getting in one last adventure before the school bells start ringing; this guide will give you a few clues as to what you can expect during your back to school vacation in Rocky Point!

White Sands Are Calling

You have probably been hearing the call of white sand beaches since the moment you clicked the bright green book now button on the side of our page, and now that you have arrived, you don’t have to ignore it a second longer. Drop your bags at the door and run to water’s edge, perhaps just in time to watch the golden sun fall into the sea or maybe the moon will already have risen by the time your toes are buried in the sand, but that’s ok. Tomorrow offers more opportunities to savor the sun, the softness of the sand beneath your feet, and the roar of the waves. Spend at least one day relaxing under colorful umbrellas, letting the serenity of the Sea of Cortez seep into your soul, or if you are the type who can’t sit still, there will be chances to ride jet skis, banana boats, or maybe even stand up paddleboards. Explore tide pools when the tide goes out, search for shells to bring home as souvenirs, and if you are lucky, you may even find some shark’s teeth, impressing your friends when you return to real life.

Explore the Pinacate and Gran Desierto de Altar Biosphere Reserve

Offering the opportunity to walk on lava flows, the chance to explore the wildlife, and perhaps take some of the best pictures you have ever taken in your life, the pinacate and gran Desierto de altar biosphere reserve (the Pinacate Biosphere, for short) offers an educational experience that never fails to entertain. Your children will be delighted at the sight of Gila monsters running across the sandy landscape and the chance to run across a desert tortoise is quite high. Over 44 mammals and more than 200 bird species make their home in the Pinacate Biosphere so why not keep track of the ones you see?

A Stroll on the Malecon

Coming in a close second in popularity to the beaches of Rocky Point, the Malecon allows offers something different for every traveler. Fine restaurants, seaside bars, and upscale shops appeal to those with discerning tastes, but families may enjoy a different side of the Malecon. Selfies taken in front of the colorful Peñasco sign, watching the shrimpers and fishermen return to port after a successful day at sea, or enjoying an ice cream cone from Thrifty Ice Cream, competing against the sun to finish every bite before it melts all over your skin; summers are quite toasty in Rocky Point but this cool treat will help you beat that heat. When hunger pangs strike, Margarita Mermaids is one of our favorite Malecon restaurants, offering live music, delicious seafood-centric Mexican food, and refreshing cocktails.

Be sure to stop by the statue that pays homage to the shrimping industry, offering another selfie opportunity.

Rocky Point Ziplines, Paseo de la Duna S/N

Although most of your Rocky Point adventures will take place at the beach, Rocky Point Ziplines offers a chance to fly above the blue waters and sandy beaches. Enjoy the views from 150 feet in the sky, savor the feeling of flying, and relax knowing that the $25 per person cost of ziplining will fit easily into your vacation budget. Also offering axe throwing, gellyball adventures (a softer and less messy version of paint ball) horseback riding, and off road rentals, Rocky Point Ziplines is one of our favorite places to be.

Family on beach

Making Memories with FMI Rentals

The moments you spend at home with FMI Rentals will be the ones where some of your favorite memories will begin. Enjoying al fresco meals on patios overlooking the sea, late-night swims in private pools, and comfortable evenings spent playing board games with the family; the memories you make in the comfort of our summer sanctuaries will prepare you for the chaotic days of the school year that lies ahead. Reserve your favorite place to stay in Rocky Point today and end your summer vacation with excitement and relaxation!

Summers in Rocky Point are destined to become your favorite vacation experience, especially when you choose to spend much of your daylight hours hanging out at the beach. Offering cool waters, sunny skies, and a serenity that can only be found at sea, the only thing better than a day (or more) spent playing in the waters that surround us, is coming home to FMI Rentals after the sun has set. This guide to some of our favorite water activities in Rocky Point will keep you close to the water, ensuring that this getaway will be one that goes down in the record books as the best vacation ever!

Going Bananas in Rocky Point

The concept is simple. Create an oversize “tube” shaped and colored like a banana, add a tow rope with a fast boat attached to the other end, climb aboard, and prepare to laugh out loud. Riding the banana boats in Rocky Point is a time honored tradition, one that Rocky Point Adventures offers, although not all the banana boats are yellow, some will be red or blue. It’s easy to join in the fun as the banana boats are based on some of the best beaches and even though the rides are no longer than 15 minutes, this will be a fun adventure that will have you laughing out loud.

What SUP with Rocky Point Adventures

Rocky Point Adventures is a popular tour company, so don’t be surprised to see their name on this list more than a few times. Offering Stand-Up Paddleboard tours led by knowledgeable guides, tours take visitors on a tranquil exploration of some of Rocky Points most scenic spots, costing just $50 per person, ensuring that this fun activity will fit into just about everyone’s vacation budget.

Exploring the World of Dolphins

There are many things that make dolphins the most fascinating creatures of the sea, including their inherent friendliness and many local tour companies will offer dolphin cruises that follow the quicksilver creatures around the sea, laughing at their antics as they are perpetually amazed at their intellect. Eco Fun Adventures offers sunset tours that take guests along the routes the dolphins swim and frolic, while lingering in the best spots for seeing the sunset promises to be your favorite adventure of all. Tickets start at $35 per person, but if you want to enjoy a luxurious adventure, consider a private charter that comes with a private staff and personal bartender; you won’t be driving the boat, so have as many margaritas as you like.

Go Fly a Kite

No, we aren’t insulting you, we are suggesting you try another fun and exciting water adventure. Kitesurfing on the Sea of Cortez with Rocky Point Kitesurfing, offering lessons and adventures that will appeal to your daredevil side. Combining the childlike joy of kite flying with the hang ten coolness of surfing, equipment can be rented at pretty much any sporting store in Rocky Point, ensuring you won’t have to travel with awkward and oversized baggage.

Angler’s Delight

Man has been pitting their wits against the denizens of the sea, both in sport and for food, for thousands of years, and Rocky Point, known as the luckiest of fishing villages, offers a large variety of fishing charters, including Fish on Charters Puerto Peñasco. Offering two different boats equipped with the latest of technology, guests can venture out into the deep waters during the peak fishing months that begin in June. Each boat can handle up to 5 guests, the captains will take you out to the spots where the fish bite the most and his helpful crew will assist in wrangling the big fish into the boat. Perhaps this year your favorite Rocky Point Souvenir will be a picture of you standing next to a trophy fish you caught with Fish on Charters.

What SUP, Rocky Point?

Stand-Up Paddleboards, also known as SUP, are a popular water sport no matter where you are traveling and SUPing the Sea, 129 Nuevo León, Mirador, offers paddleboard (and kayak) rentals, and tours of Isla del Mar, a natural estuary offering stunning views, for just $25 per person. The sport of SUP is an ancient one, one that began as a way for warriors to sneak up on their enemies, but in spite of its violent beginnings, is known as one of the world’s most serene and healthy activities today.

Summer is here and the official festivities have begun, making an escape to the beaches of Rocky Point sound like an excellent idea. Offering white sand beaches, turquoise waters, and a joyful and laid-back vibe, the only thing better than a beach getaway to Rocky Point is a beach getaway to Rocky Point while staying in our FMI Rentals beachfront sanctuaries. This guide to the Rocky Point’s best beaches, and the best vacation rentals in the country, will give you a clearer idea of everything you have to look forward to during your journey south of the border.

14 Beaches Bordering the Sea of Cortez

There are 14 beaches within the Rocky Point city limits, and although all will offer water lovers a wonderful experience, the beaches we mention here are the most popular, offering more to explore and the opportunity to play in a variety of ways. Our first beach we have to explore today is perhaps the one that is most well-known, Sandy Beach. Not a very original name, we get that, but we don’t think you will mind when you are spending the day relaxing, frolicking in the surf, and just soaking in the serenity of the area. Many of our finest FMI Rentals are located close to Sandy Beach, perhaps within view of the waves crashing against sandy shores.

Playa Bonita Really Is a Beautiful Beach

Playa Bonita translates to beautiful beach, and we dare you to find a beach that is more stunning than this most popular beach. Offering sun shade rentals to help visitors protect their sensitive skin, this beach is also popular with water sports enthusiasts, enabling them to parasail, ride the banana boats, and jet ski. Also close to some of the best restaurants in town, a good meal and a strong margarita are just a short distance away, as are more of our beach cottages and condos.

Mirador Beach

The Old Port area of Rocky Point was once the main fishing port and is still where many fishermen drop anchor after a day at sea, and Mirador Beach is just around the corner. Offering both sandy beaches and rocky areas, its tidepools provide fascinating entertainment for your kiddos. Some of Rocky Point’s most popular night spots can be found in this area, including Manny’s and Pink Cadillac.

La Cholla

This rocky beach is actually quite popular with divers and snorkelers, offering a 15-mile-long submerged reef, calm waters, and a boat launch for those who want to head out to deeper waters. La Cholla beach is also a great fishing beach, making it easy to catch your limit of red snapper, halibut, and black sea bass, so grab your gear a cooler filled with snacks and beers and prepare for a few hours of pitting your wits against the most delicious denizens of the sea. La Cholla is also known for being home to perhaps the most well-known night spot in the area, JJ’s Cantina.

Playa Encanto

Not every beach we discuss here will be located in the town of Rocky Point. Some, like Playa Encanto, involve a short road trip to reach but will be worth every mile driven. Playa Encanto is one such beach, located about 12 miles down the road and offering one of the most beautiful and serene beaches in the region. Offering soft sand beaches that are rock-free and a quiet peace that speaks to the soul of everyone who chooses to make the trip to this area, Playa Encanto is one of our favorites, and we think it will be one of yours as well.

Las Conchas

Home to some of our more popular vacation properties, Las Conchas is a great beach for searching for sea shells, fishing, and relaxing. Offering shallow and calm waters along its 6-mile-long stretch of beach, your time spent here will be memorable and peaceful.

Playa Dorada

Playa Dorada is a little further away from Rocky Point, about 30 minutes away to be precise, but this quiet beach is known for its peaceful ambience and the abundance of seashells found along its sandy shores. This is a fantastic beach for finding seashells and for getting lost in your thoughts and in the beauty of the seascape that spreads out before you.

A summer vacation at the beaches in Rocky Point is destined to be one that is never forgotten, offering long days filled with salt air, sunshine, and cool waters framed by golden sands, and when you choose FMI Rentals for your summer sanctuary you can add comfort and style to the mix. Once a sleepy little fishing village, Rocky Point has become the premier vacation destination for travelers seeking a beach vacation without the high cost, ensuring that your upcoming vacation will be a fantastic one, no matter how tight your budget, leaving plenty of extra pesos to enjoy these fun-filled events. Today’s guide to the top June events in Rocky Point will give our favorite guests a sneak peek into what an idyllic beach getaway can look like.

Skullyz Annual Fishing Derby, June 1

The fish are always biting in Rocky Point, and Skullyz Cantina’s annual fishing derby offers a low-key way to enjoy a day on the water, wetting lines, sipping cold ones, and trying to catch your limit. They provide water and breakfast burritos, but feel free to bring your own snacks and beverages for this adults only cruise that celebrates the way life should be lived in Rocky Point. On a boat, catching fish, and drinking beer!

Circus Mexicus, June 5-10

This year marks the 25th anniversary of a music festival that began with one band and maybe 100 guests partying on the rooftop of what is now known as Skullyz but was then the Sunset Cantina. Today thousands of people attend this five-day music fest that has moved from venue to venue over the years until it finally landed in its fabulous digs at Sandy Beach, and just as the audience has grown, so has the line-up. The headliner has always been (and will always be) Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers, and American band who have claimed Rocky Point as their home, but also includes more than 25 others, all playing the music you can sing along to and won’t be able to keep from dancing to on the golden sands of Sandy Beach, or at a variety of venues in town. Ticket prices start at $25 per person for students and top out at $205 for a 4 day VIP per person ticket.

Borracho Bingo at Banditos, Wednesdays at 4 PM

Sometimes it is the events that occur on a regular basis (not an annual one) that brings the most pleasure as well as helping understand the area you are visiting better, and Borracho Bingo at Banditos is a funtastic example! It’s inexpensive, you only need $10 to buy in and 8 rounds of bingo ensures your night at Banditos will be filled with fun and hopefully lots of prizes. Prizes are given out after each round but even if you don’t win, singing along with the music that is playing will make your night out on the town worthy of remembering long after you return to real life.

Paint & Sip at Grapes and Barley, Thursdays at 12:30 PM

Shopping for souvenirs is a time-honored vacation tradition, but if you are looking for a different type of souvenir, something you created yourself, perhaps, taking part in this weekly event is the best way to do so. Paint and Sip at Grape and Barley offers all the materials you need, shared appetizers, and two drinks, all for the low price of $25. Spend a couple of hours out of your day painting the picture of the day, sipping, snacking, and relaxing, and the painting you create will be the souvenir you will cherish forever.

More to Enjoy with FMI Rentals

Not all events have to be ones sanctioned or created outside the home, especially as the amenities our FMI Rentals summer sanctuaries are designed to create a party atmosphere while making guests feel comfortable and at home. The activities listed below could be considered special events that you will wish never had to end.

• Pool Parties with the Family:

Whether you rent a condo in a resort development offering a community pool or a standalone home with private pool, a pool party with the family can be the event that makes the best memories. Whip up a pitcher of frozen margaritas, set your timer on your watch (counting how long the kids can hold their breath) and prepare for a pool party to end all pool parties.

•Barbecue with your Friends:

When traveling with friends (not all vacations are family ones) there is nothing more fun than grilling up the catch of the day, streaming music, and devouring the meal on a patio overlooking the sea or on a roof deck offering panoramic views of Rocky Point, and you can find either of these options in many of our properties.

Discover Rocky Point events in June & reserve your favorite FMI Rentals summer sanctuary today!

When it comes time to celebrate your favorite hero for Father’s Day this year, you may be tempted to go the regular route, a funny card, a coffee mug, maybe even a tie that he will never wear, but this year, we at FMI Rentals think you should try something different. This is the man who changes your oil, who takes out the garbage, who does all the chores we hate to do, without complaint and without fail and this year, you can honor him with a beach vacation for Father’s Day in Rocky Point. Showing him you realize all he does for you, all he has done for you, and this guide to a Father’s Day in Rocky Point will give him an adventure he will never forget and memories that will last a lifetime.

Book Your Beach Vacation Rental for Father’s Day in Rocky Point Here!

Feed him Well

Dad is notorious for being an easy man to please and that includes the meals that are set before him. Leaning towards red meat and potatoes as his foods of choice, he still has a sense of adventure that will ensure he enjoys the spicy heat of our home country favorites, including the hearty meals served at Max’s Restaurant and Bar. Open 7 days a week from 8 AM until 10:30 PM, their menu is filled with a variety of classic American and Mexican dishes your dad is sure to love. If he isn’t willing to step outside his comfort zone, we can assure you their biscuits and gravy tastes as if it came from a southern diner, but if you can convince him to taste the more adventurous bites of life, chorizo and eggs is always a fantastic choice.

Dad Needs his Alone Time

Dads love to be around their families, but they also need to spend some time alone and often their favorite way to do that is with a cooler filled with beverages at his side and a long pole in his hand. Rocky Point is known for many things, including the fact that it offers some of the most beautiful beaches in the area, but it is the fishing that will bring a twinkle to your dad’s eyes. It’s free to fish from the shores in Rocky Point and the Sandy Beach pier is a great spot to kill a few hours drowning worms.

For an adventure he will never forget, however, a deep sea fishing expedition is destined to bring him joy, happiness, and the opportunity to catch his limit, ensuring dinners for your stay with FMI Rentals will more than likely come straight from the sea. Also, giving dad the chance to make his fishing dreams come true when the big game fish is on the other end of the line, pictures of which he will gladly pull out to show at all family events for years to come.

Dads Like a Good Party

Maybe the dad you are celebrating isn’t your own dad, but is the father of your children, we are going to guess he won’t be wanting to go to bed too early, especially as the clubs in Rocky Point promise that a good time will be had by all. Exploring the drink specials at Wrecked at the Reef, listening to live bands play at Manny’s Beach Club, and dance the night away at Elixir, knowing that the dad in your life is guaranteed to be the life of the fiesta!

Fun Fore Dad

The beautiful weather of Rocky Point enables golf to be a year round sport and the Links at Las Palomas will be one of his favorite spots to play the most frustrating and wonderful game. Designed by noted golf architects Forrest Richards and Arthur Jack Snyder, it offers 18 holes, a driving range, putting green, and a pro shop with a snack bar. Cart service will bring Dad’s beer to him out on the course, so he doesn’t have to ever be thirsty and although he may not be able to see the Sea of Cortez as he plays, its serenity is ever present, perhaps helping him maintain his temper when his game goes sideways.

Designed for Families

Some of Dad’s most memorable moments may be the ones spent relaxing at home in our FMI Rentals holiday hideaways. Grilling the fish he caught during his fishing expeditions, hanging out by the pool with a cold one in hand, even napping on plush sofas in the living rooms while the television provides background noise to help him sleep better. Some of our properties offer rooftop decks where the sunset views will change everyone’s lives, others offer views of the Sea of Cortez that will be appreciated even more with another of those cold drinks in hand. Reserve your favorite holiday escape today and give Dad a Father’s Day to remember.

Shopaholics will have a great time on a vacation to Rocky Point, as you can find many local shops and markets to pick up souvenirs, gifts, and more. Check out our favorite local farmers and craft markets in Rocky Point below!

Rocky Point Farmers and Artisan Market

Arguably, the most famous farmer’s market in Rocky Point is the Farmers and Artisans Market, run by the RPSB Chamber of Commerce right in downtown Rocky Point. This is a convenient spot to walk to in the morning to pick up fresh produce, try some local fruit, chat with the vendors, and get a fresh breeze on your face from the nearby water.

We love coming here every Sunday during the summer between 8 am and 1 pm to start your day in the best way possible. You can come here with your family anytime between July and November to check out the vendors, stands, fresh food, strong coffee, and unique handcrafted items to bring home as souvenirs.

Just walk from your lovely vacation home to Old Depot Park in downtown Rocky Point to see if you can find some fresh fish to purchase for your organic dinner later that day. Or try some freshly baked bread as a nice breakfast while sitting by the water. We also love picking up desserts, pies, and pastries to bring back home as a post-breakfast mid-day treat.

Other fun items to check out while you are here include handcrafted jewelry, which makes the perfect gift or souvenir to bring home for your friend. There are also tons of soaps, lotions, and candles, all of which can make you look and feel great during your vacation in the sunny country of Mexico. Plus, if you head here later in the day, craft beer will help keep you cool on a hot day!

One of the top things to do while walking around this expansive market is to check out the food stalls and the bulk foods for sale. We recommend trying shrimp pancakes or oyster shakes from the nearby food trucks. If you’re feeling brave, try the scallop burger in the afternoon or the abalone dessert for something super traditional.

Are you keen to go outside of your comfort zone? Try the ‘Chapulines,’ or roasted grasshoppers, commonly sold at every outdoor market in Mexico. They are crunchy and savory, and actually not too bad if you don’t look at what you’re eating! Another must-try item during your Rocky Point Farmers Market trip is the ‘obleas’, which are toasted tortillas with either honey or ham for a sweet snack.

Feeling hot after hours of walking around the open-air market? We don’t blame you. Try the Nieve de Garrafa ‘ice cream,’ which is burnt milk with rose petal infusions and your choice of flavoring. It’s the perfect early afternoon pick-me-up during the middle of summer.

Mermaid’s Market

Another cool farmer’s market and artisan craft fair to check out during your stay in Rocky Point is the Mermaids’ Market at the Shrimp Park and Plaza in Rocky Point. This market is held on the first and third Saturdays through the witness and spring season, offering off-season guests a time to check out authentic Mexican items, handmade gifts, local produce, and artisan foods.

We love coming here in the cooler months to go shopping for clothes, pick up some items to bring back home to decorate our houses, unique accessories, like cool hats and sunglasses, and tasty food and drink, like Bloody Marias, Mermaid Margaritas, and ‘cervezas.’

Plus, after shopping and walking around for hours on end, you can walk to the nearby Kaffee Haus Puerto Peñasco to have a filling breakfast and a strong cup of coffee. We love ordering the huge stack of stuffed French toast with a side of eggs and bacon or the Greek Farmer’s Breakfast with scrambled eggs, tomatoes, peppers, spinach, Feta cheese, and black olives.

Rocky Point beckons summer vacationers seeking relaxation and ways to beat the heat. We love to spoil our guests, and no one knows more than us that our golden beaches will bring your favorite vacation experiences, but we also know that summer heat can be a bit daunting for those who have never traveled this far south before. Fortunately, we have a few tips and hints that we love to share, so grab yourself your favorite icy beverage and prepare to discover the chilly things to do in Rocky Point this summer.

Beaches in the Morning

Summer temps can reach the triple digit range in the summer months, so you learn quickly to schedule your beach time for the morning hours, getting your fill of sun, sea, and sand and then heading for cooler adventures sometime around the noon hour. You won’t need to sacrifice your toes in the sand time and you will get to experience more of what Rocky Point has to offer, so go ahead, ride the banana boats, work on your tan, and build sandcastles with your toddlers at water’s edge, without feeling overwhelmed by the heat.

Ice Cream at La Michoacana, Various Locations

This first hint should be of no surprise, especially as ice cream on a hot summer day has been a tradition for centuries longer than you probably realized and La Michoacana is a local franchise that specializes in this frosty treat! Chances are you will find an ice cream spot on nearly every corner, ensuring that even as the sun beats down on your skin, your insides will be chilly and sweet.

Rent an FMI Rentals with a Pool

A late night swim in a private pool is one of life’s greatest luxuries, but what people without pools may not realize is that it is also a great way to lower your core body temperature, ensuring that you will sleep well and comfortably, something the cloud soft beds in our vacation rentals will help with as well! Offering comfort, style, and air conditioning, every moment spent with us will be cool and comfortable. Reserve your favorite property today!

For some travelers, reserving a hotel room for their vacations is still engrained in their conscience. Their parents did it that way, their grandparents, perhaps even their great-grandparents, and the common thought is, “If it’s not broken, why fix it?” We at FMI Rentals in Rocky Point believe that system is broken, however, and it’s not just because we want you to rent our vacation rentals. Our own travels have taught us all the reasons a good, an excellent, vacation rental is so much better than reserving hotel rooms and today, we are going to share our reasons with you in this guide that is destined to make your upcoming Rocky Point, Mexico vacay all that much more comfortable!

You Deserve More

You work hard every day of your life, doing so that you can enjoy vacations like the one you are planning in Rocky Point, and the charms of a vacation rental are something you deserve, not a sterile hotel room with the same furniture that can basically be found in every hotel room in the world. The artwork decorating the walls and shelves may intrigue you, and when you learn that the piece you love isn’t some mass-produced knock-off sold in hotel warehouses but is a handmade piece that you can probably buy in our local shops, well, it just makes all the difference.

Comfort Is Key

Hotel beds are generally hard and uncomfortable, and the only place to sit and watch the only television may be on a questionably stained office chair, or on the bed you have already determined is not comfortable. When you choose a vacation rental over a hotel room, you are presented with a variety of places to sit, savor, and sink into, both inside the space and outside, and if you find yourself falling into an impromptu nap on the couch on a lazy Tuesday afternoon, all the better! Our linens will feel soft against your skin, the pillows on the bed won’t be so hard you wake up with a stiff neck the next morning, and that chair placed where the light is best will encourage long hours of reading and relaxing. Can a hotel room offer that kind of comfort? Possibly, but we have rarely come across that in our own travels.

Space Is Vital

This next reason should, perhaps, be moved to the top of the list, as having enough space for everyone in your family is vital to the success of your emotional vacation. How did we ever think squeezing the entire family into one room, sharing one bathroom, and watching one television could be a good idea?

In our FMI Rentals sanctuaries, whether you choose condo or full-sized home, you will have the space to retreat to when emotions begin to run high. Remember sleeping on blankets on the floors of those hotel rooms? Or worse, having to share the bed with a sibling who may or may not have mastered continence as of yet? Even our coziest condos will offer enough beds for every traveler, ensuring that everyone is comfortable and rested and not getting on anyone’s nerves. Multiple baths will serve as a time saver when everyone is trying to get ready at the same time, and if you can find the time to watch a little television during your stay, multiple televisions will ensure that parents can watch parent shows and kids can watch kid shows and no one will have to sacrifice a thing.

The Privacy and Quiet You Crave

How is it that EVERY time you stay in a hotel room, you are housed next door to the noisiest people, the ones who do everything at top volume? Have you ever considered that it isn’t your bad luck, it is the paper thin walls that separate every room?

Our standalone houses, of course, don’t offer shared walls, but even in our condos or townhomes, the rentals that do share a wall, the difference will be noticeable. You won’t be able to hear the television shows they are watching, the door slams (Can children and angry people ever NOT slam a door?) and you won’t be forced to be a fly on the wall (in terms of sound carrying) during your neighbor’s most intimate moments.

Saving Money and Getting More with FMI Rentals in Rocky Point

Everyone loves a good deal, and the realization that you can spend less while gaining more space and comfort will help convince you that FMI Rentals in Rocky Point is the only way to go during your explorations south of the border. You may be asking how this could be, especially when renting a home is so much more expensive than a single hotel room, and the answer is simple.

Calculate how many people are in your family, multiplied by being forced to eat at restaurants for every single meal, and subtract the savings you will make when you can utilize our fully equipped kitchens to create a few meals! Now that we have made you do math, our job here is complete, and we invite you to explore our vacation rentals a little more closely and reserve your favorite today!
